Mingfei Zhao wins 2024 CoMSEF Postdoctoral Scholar Award for Modeling and Simulation

Dr. Mingfei Zhao (now on the faculty at the University of Alabama) has won the 2024 CoMSEF Postdoctoral Scholar Award for Modeling and Simulation (sponsored by the Molecular Systems Design & Engineering journal). She is cited "for development and applications of multiscale modeling in understanding and manipulating structures and properties of functional biomaterials." She completed postdocs at University of Chicago and Los Alamos National Laboratory after completing a Ph.D. at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2019. Mingfei delivered a presentation describing her research during the CoMSEF Plenary Session at the 2024 AIChE Annual Meeting in San Diego. The award recognizes outstanding research in computational molecular science and engineering, encompassing both methods and applications, among postdoctoral scholars. Work over the course of the candidate’s entire academic career can be considered, but particular weight will be accorded to activities and achievements during the period of the candidate’s postdoctoral training.
